Gratitude for the YMCA

The last eight years of teaching at the Alexander YMCA have been fabulous! What a pleasure to dance and move with y’all. Thank you for making the Y feel like one big happy family! The Y was a perfect place for students that couldn’t attend my classes at Sertoma or Cary Senior Center.

In those eight years, I thrived and developed as a teacher. All of that was possible thanks to the supportive and nurturing environment the Y’s students fostered.

I will never forget all the good—and sad—times we danced and moved through.

We gathered to dance and move through tears at the loss of dear members, to celebrate birthdays, to get through hurricanes, to rejoice during the holidays, to support each other to heal, to release stress, to be silly and let go of burdens, to sound and empower one another, and oh yeah, to get physically more fit..

The relationships I have made with you all are everlasting, and I look forward to dancing and moving with you on Zoom, at Sertoma, or other outside venues I find.

One last big thank you to all the staff that it takes to run the Alexander YMCA and it’s many programs, without whom there would be no amazing Y. I was proud to be a part of an organization that does so much good in our community. Here’s to the continued strength of the YMCA and you, its members.
